What We Do

WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

This one might seem like a doozy, but it’s actually pretty simple! The answer does depend, though, on how you choose to build your BrightBuilt Home...

If you opt to go modular, you have three primary routes you may choose: base BrightBuilt Home, modified BrightBuilt Home, or custom BrightBuilt Home!  That is to say, if you are happy with one of the standard 9 designs as is, we can expedite the pricing process, help you identify a builder, and get the ball rolling lickety-split.  If you would like to make some modifications to our existing designs, we will happily work with you to achieve the finishes, spaces, and interior arrangements that best address your needs.  And, of course, if you find that the existing BBH designs aren’t exactly, perfectly, just right for what you’d like in a new home, then we will help you get there by working with you to design a new, custom modular home.

But modular isn’t the only way!  While we advocate for the advantages of modular, we fully acknowledge that it doesn’t work for everyone or every site.  If you want to build one of the BrightBuilt Home designs as a site-built home, we can help!  A number of site-built BBH designs have in fact already been completed, and they are loved just as much as their modular brothers and sisters.

And last (but not least), if you have fallen in love with a BrightBuilt Home design and you’re a builder yourself, or hope to build sometime in the future, we are happy to provide drawing sets that will get you the plans and specifications you will need to get started.

CAN I STICK-BUILD A BBH DESIGN INSTEAD OF USING MODULAR?

Indeed! As you may have just read in the preceding question, it is absolutely possible to build a BrightBuilt Home design using site-build construction.  If you are a builder yourself, or your spouse, or best buddy, or child, or parent, or anyone you know and trust is a builder (and can fit it in to your/his/her schedule), we want you to be able to realize your home as you see fit.

CAN I CHOOSE THE SIDING FOR MY HOME?

Absolutely.  From cedar shingles, to clapboard, to board and batten, to Hardie-plank, to vinyl, to titanium, you may specify the siding style and material that best suits your aesthetic and budget.  While vinyl is the only siding that can be applied in the factory (due to flexibility and weight during transportation), you may specify any type of siding you like.  What you choose can be detailed and installed on your site, once the home has been delivered and/or the site-construction process is ready.

ARE THERE CERTAIN FINISHES THAT ARE INSTALLED ON SITE?

We will adjust the finish schedule per your specifications, but there are some finishes that must be done on site.  Granite countertops, non-vinyl siding, some hardwood flooring, some cabinetry, and other finishes may all be best installed on site.  As you determine which finishes you would like for your home, we will work with the builder to establish how and when the work will be done.

MAY I BRING SOME IDEAS TO THE TABLE?

Please feel free to research, collect, and/or sketch away!  Any concepts that you’re willing to commit to paper can be helpful. Also, any research you can do on your own such as collecting clippings and links certainly will help us get into your head and can streamline the modular modification or custom design process. And selecting hardware, fixtures and finishes ahead of time is a great way to get involved, especially with the giant world of internet shopping at your fingertips!

If you’ve sketched out rough floor plans per an existing model or for an entirely new design, that’s a help to guide us in what you're thinking. If you’ve picked out your favorite finishes already, that’s a great help as well. We’re happy to look at whatever you want to bring to the table.

DO I NEED TO KNOW MY BUDGET? HOW DO I DETERMINE IF IT IS FEASIBLE?

We don’t necessarily expect you to have a detailed budget going into your project, but it sure helps to have an idea of what you’re hoping to spend. Once we know that, we can help figure out if your wants and desires fit the size of your pocketbook. The baseline prices for each home can give you a sense of what’s doable for you.  We can build the standard model according to the base specifications, or we can make adjustments tailored to your lifestyle, and keep them within the parameters of your bottom line. The hopeful truth is that we’re the ones who can weave together the program and design in clever ways that will allow your budget to be met. We’ve done it in the past, and we’re confident we’ll be able to do it for you.

Building materials do have a certain cost, and buildings can get expensive quickly. Every project faces tough choices at some point in the process, and the key is to know what these choices will be before wading in too deeply. Our dedication to Attainable means that we’re committed to seeing your project built, so that it doesn’t end up beautiful only on paper.

ARE THERE PARTS OF THE PROCESS I CAN DO MYSELF?

If you would like to take on aspects of the finishes, interior build-out, or exterior elements, our hats are off to you!  As avid believers in the independent spirit, we fully support anyone who wishes to tackle paint projects, carpentry, or other aspects of the project closeout.  While there may be arrangements necessary with our modular builders for those hearty souls who wish to take on substantial portions of the construction, it is absolutely possible for us to finish the modules to varying degrees, per your needs, wants, and creative freedoms (and your local lending agent’s requirements).
